Border raid nets tennis finals Mercedes

Crime / Tue 5th Nov 2013 at 07:05am

RESIDENTS and motorists in Harlow could hold the key to a burglary in Hertfordshire in which thieves stole a Mercedes linked to the ATP tennis finals which begin at the London 02 Arena this week.

The break-in happened when thieves forced open the front door of a house on Greenstead in Sawbridgeworth between 11:30pm Saturday, November 2 and 1:30am Sunday, November 3 and stole the car keys to two parked vehicles outside. They then drove off in them.

One of these vehicles was a white VW Sharan while the other was a white Mercedes E350 which had livery on the side of it for the ATP tournament.

Investigating Officer, Dc Steve Blackie from the East Herts Local Crime Unit, said: “The Mercedes may have caught the attention of a potential witness because of the distinctive livery it had on it at the time. If you think you saw the vehicle being driven through Harlow, please get in touch with me as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information about the burglary should contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on 101, quoting crime reference A4/13/512 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Media enquiries should be directed to Herts Police Press Office on 01707 354784.
