Harlow Town 1 v 2 Soham Town Rangers

HARLOW Town’s 13-match unbeaten run came to a halt as they were well beaten by Soham Town Rangers, 2-1 at the Harlow Arena.

Harlow nearly scored from the kick-off as Alex Read ran onto a through ball but was just edged out by the Soham defender.

The team were oozing with confidence and again, Soham keeper did well to save low down from Jonathan Glowcki.

With a swirling wind, conditions were tricky but the Hawks were keen to spread the game.

In the 12th minute, a header from Leon Antoine just flew over after a great cross from Glowacki.

At the other end, Soham went close after a deflected just went past Bechet’s post.

And they went even better in the 15th minute when a rocket from Ryan Sharman put the team a goal up.

And things got worse for Harlow when the bustling Luke Stanley ran from the half way line and slotted the ball past Bechet again.

As the rain poured, it was testament for both sides that they were playing such entertaining football.

Harlow had the best chances but lacked fluency and accuracy up front. In the 37th minute, Junior Dadson had a great chance when the ball fell to him from eight yards out but he blasted it over the bar.

Harlow came out for the second half with the strong wind behind them but continued to display a lack of fluency and rhythm.

Free kicks went astray and shots hit the side netting. But it was pressure nonetheless. A point blank shot from Leon Antoine was followed by a number of corners.

Things got worse when Danny Brown took a nasty knock to the head.

Soham had a number of chances with one shot by Luke Stanley flashing across the Harlow goal.

The game petered out as Soham had the measure of Harlow Town.

A 91st minute consolation came in the form of a great header by Alex Read but it was too little, too late.

The team will now look to the challenges over the Christmas period starting at Waltham Abbey on Boxing Day.
