MARKaccuro Hall Academy has become the first Community Partner of Hastingwood-based charity Accuro in the Harlow area.

Both partners are looking forward to developing a long-term mutually rewarding partnership.

Accuro provides a range of services for local children and adults with a disability and their families and is now entering its 30th year of successfully delivering services.

The charity is keen to develop Community Partnerships with a range of local organisations and businesses to help establish stronger links with the wider community that will be of mutual benefit to the charity and its community partners.

Accuro’s community partnership officer Ruth Davies said: “We are keen to recruit a small but significant number of Community Partners who would like to join us in positively promoting the interests of local children and adults with a disability.

“We are seeking partners who can contribute to our existing work and to help us improve the services we currently deliver.

“In so doing they will be making an important and valued contribution to their local community.”

Accuro has already established a few community partnerships in other parts of west Essex but the link with Mark Hall Academy is the first in the Harlow area.

The charity sees the initiative as an important first step in developing links in this area.

Accuro chief executive officer Arthur Steward said: “The enthusiasm of staff and students from Mark Hall Academy for working in partnership with Accuro has been exceptional and we are therefore delighted they are our first Community Partner in Harlow.

“We are very confident we can develop a good working relationship with the
school that will not only be of mutual benefit but ultimately and perhaps even more importantly will have tangible benefits for the local community.”

For its part Mark Hall Academy sees establishing partnerships with groups like Accuro as part of its responsibilities for being an active contributor to its local community.

Mark Hall Academy’s associate assistant principal Martin Budgett said: “Developing ways in which we can support our immediate and wider community is an essential element of the Academy’s development.

“The more we can connect our students with the world around them the better. Making them more aware of the varying needs of young people and adults and the great work being carried out by the likes of Accuro to support them is essential in shaping them as good citizens.

“We are proud to be associated with Accuro and look forward to developing the partnership further.”

Local organisations and businesses who would like to find out more about Accuro’s Community Partnerships can contact the charity by e-mailing [email protected] or by ringing on 01279 433667.
