Running: Daniel smashes under-20 half marathon record

HARLOW Running Club members produced some excellent performances at the Great Bentley Half Marathon with several personal best times for the distance and one club record.
This was despite the very windy conditions on the one lap course near Colchester. Pride of place goes to 18 year old Daniel Jephcott who finished in 255th place out of 748 finishers in an excellent PB time of 1hr 41min 02sec which improved
the HRC U20 record by 29 seconds.
First HRC member to finish was Jamie Jephcott 94th in a superb 1hr 28min 54sec. He was followed home by Rick Ricketts, recentley back from injury, 124th in 1hr 31min 41sec.
First Harlow lady was Dionne Jones 173rd and 2nd lady Vet 40 in an excellent 1hr 35min 05sec and not far behind was Julia Gardiner 184th and 2nd lady Vet 35 in a PB time of 1hr 35min 38sec. Colin Moody 188th and 3rd Vet 60 finished in 1hr 36min 13sec and there were PB’s from Sandra Rust (358th, 1.47.08), Robin Lozeau (445th, 1.52.24), and Vicky Calver (734th, 2.32.14).
There were also creditable debut runs at the distance from Alex Smith (193rd, 1.36.31), Ben Barnard (430th, 1.51.25) and Katie Muirhead (632nd, 2.05.39). Also running were Matt Jones (595th, 2.02.33) and Alison Bull (636th, 2.07.01).
At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Jamie Jephcott finished in 2nd place out of 87 finishers in an excellent 19min 15sec and he was followed by Jason Haigh 3rd in 20min 39sec.
At the Metropolitan Cross Country League race held on a very muddy 5 mile course at Wormwood Scrubs John Tennant finished in 307th placeout of 362 finishers in 37min 26sec.
