Party in the park at Freshwaters

School fetes are so last season! At Freshwaters Primary Academy, it’s all about the Party in the Park.

Pupils and teachers at the school, in School Lane, Harlow, are busy planning the outdoor event which they hope will bring the whole community together for an afternoon of fun and entertainment.

Parents and neighbours who run quality craft and food businesses are urged to book a stall for the event.

The party, after school on Friday July 4, will be organised, set up and run by pupils to give them ownership of the event.

Acting headteacher Marios Solomonides said: “We had a very successful school fete last summer, but we want this to be more like a festival. I want there to be lots of music, dancing and food.

“It’s not all about raising money – although we do hope to boost funds – it’s about being proud and celebrating our achievements.

We want to promote pride in our school and in ourselves and for our children to feel they can achieve things, that they can achieve their wildest dreams.”

Pupils are writing letters and taking to the school’s Twitter account @FreshwatersAcad, under supervision, to appeal to local personalities to attend the event.

If you would like to book a stall for the Party in the Park, contact [email protected] or Tweet the school.
