Back to the Eighties for Midnight Walk

News / Wed 9th Apr 2014 at 10:06am

IT was the decade of shoulder pads, power dressing and big hair…and on Saturday, June 28 we will be going back to the 80s for St Clare Hospice’s annual Midnight Walk.

Eighties mania took over the Hastingwood-based Hospice on Friday (April 4) when the fundraising team pulled on their neon tutus and leg warmers to officially launch the biggest event in the St Clare calendar.

We are hoping more men and women than ever before will join us for the Midnight Walk and support our work caring for local people with a terminal or life-limiting illness and their family.

With the community’s help we hope to smash our £60,000 fundraising target, which would pay for all our clinical services for eight days.

The fundraising team was joined at the Water Gardens in Harlow by Hospice mascot Clare the Bear to encourage people to sign-up for the retro event, which is offering a 5km or 10km route, both starting outside ASDA at 9.30pm.

midnightwalkWe are hoping to see walkers dressed up in their best 80s gear – or if you love Freddie Mercury, Madonna, Bon Jovi or Adam Ant then why not dress up as your favourite 80s idol?

We will be selling 80s merchandise, including tutus, head bands and leg warmers so there is no excuse for not dressing up and there will be also 80s entertainment at the start and finish so you can continue the party afterwards.

We are offering an early bird 2 for £20 registration offer until the end of April so grab your family, friends and colleagues and sign up today.

You can register online at www.stclarehospice.org.uk/midnight.html or by calling the St Clare fundraising team on 01279 773750. Registration forms are also available from the Hospice reception or any of the St Clare shops.
