A PACKED Harlow audience was treated to a wonderful performance of The Wizard of Oz at the Harlow Playhouse.

This reporter took their grand-daughter (aged five) along to the show and she loved every single minute of it.

The audience age range ran from five to eighty-five and no wonder as it was so entertaining in a timeless manner.

The show by Captive8 productions was billed as a “New Easter pantomime” and it certainly entertained like a christmas show.

What Tom Swift (the director) has been able to produce is a warm, witty, colourful and entertaining show that suited everybody.

Katie Hastings, in the nicest way, was a wonderful wicked witch (confirmed by a slightly nervous Millie Sadler!) but was all part of the marvellous show.

The show also used the video backdrops really well to blend a traditional panto with a 2014 feel. That is also why use of songs such as Happy worked seamlessly.

According to our intrepid five year old reporter, the best bit was when the good witch made the wicked witch dissolve into a puddle and then the wicked witch reappeared at the back of the theatre!

This was a typically entertaining show brought to the public by Captive8 and the Harlow Playhouse.
