Witham 2 v 5 Harlow Town

HARLOW Town reserved their performance of the season in a wonderful 5-2 victory against Witham on Thursday night.

The victory also saw Alex Read beat Jeff Wood’s 25 year goal-scoring of 44 in a season.

Alex Read scored a hat-trick that brought his tally to 47 for the season surpassing the 44 scored by former Brighton player Jeff Wood in the 1988/89 campaign.

Shamedu Pedulu put Witham ahead in the 27th minute before Read equalised from the penalty spot five minutes later after Shane Stamp was fouled.

It was Pedulu that put Witham ahead again on 47 minutes before Read scored twice to complete his treble and put Harlow 3-2 up.

Further goals for Harlow came from Johnathan Glowacki on 77 minutes and Junior Dadson on 86 minutes.

Harlow are still in third place. They are unlikely to catch leaders VCD but then again. They face Cheshunt on Saturday.
