Harlow Town 2 v 2 Cheshunt

HARLOW Town dropped two vital points as the last kick of the game saw them draw 2-2 against Cheshunt at The Harlow Arena.

Harlow started like a team on form with James Smith rampaging down the middle and only a couple of offsides preventing them from taking the lead.

But Cheshunt were a team who put six past Romford a few days ago and looked determined to meet Harlow head-on. Striker Tinde Adenunmi looked a handful and his shot in the 9th minute ran right across the goal-line.

Harlow continued to whip the ball in from the wings but without a great deal of luck. It looked like it was going to be a day of attrition.

Harlow earned a corner in the 28th minute after a Read shot pinged off a defender. The same happened again a minute later. Shane Stamp then produced a fine volley but it went straight at keeper.

Stanley Muguo was put into space in the 32nd minute but his shot was well blocked.

This was a scrappy game and sure enough, Cheshunt scraped an opening goal in the 32nd minute when Omer Riza bundled the ball home from close range. Darren Blewitt clearly felt there had been a foul and made his feelings known at half time.

Harlow came out for the second half in attacking mode. It has served them well all season and they more or less had four attacking.

Cheshunt looked like they could score a second any second. In the 56th minute, Omer Riza produced a great run into the box but he passed to Filipe Da Silva who was offside.

Harlow needed to keep their heads but they also needed a plan B. George Smith came on for Shane Stamp. However, when Omer Riza walked round Donny Barnard a refresh was needed. Robbie Martin and Leon Antoine came on to ring the changes.

And it seemed to have worked as in the 75th minute, Alex Read scored from the penalty box after he was up-ended.

Harlow now had their tail up but Cheshunt were made of stern stuff and kept ploughing away. They stretched Harlow and made them run for everything.

But Harlow have been on a great run of form and thought they had all three points when George Smith took his chance from close range in the 90th minute.

The team celebrated knowing how important three points would be but unfortunately The Ambers had different ideas and Filipe Da Silva scored with what was to be the last kick of the game.
