Running: Ladies impress in the Town Park

HARLOW Running Club held its first of three Ladies 5K Series of races last week on a hilly course through the town park. The winner of this first race was HRC’s own Julia Gardiner in an excellent 21min 24sec out of a total 30 finishers.

She was followed home by Janet Smith of Bishop’s Stortford in 21min 48sec and Natalie Longman of Tri Sport Epping in 21min 51sec. Michelle Aitken finished in 16th place in a personal best time for the distance of 26min 02sec.

Meanwhile at the Halstead Marathon Sandra Rust finished in 208th place out of 532 finishers in a superb 3hrs 51min 24sec in her debut at the distance. She was followed home by Paul Dixon 253rd in 3hrs 57min 14sec, Brendon MacLean 297th in 4hrs 05min 38sec, both in their distance debut, and Holly Nairn 439th in 4hrs 45min 53sec.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Andy Terrell finished in 10th place out of 87 finishers in a PB equalling 20min 14sec. He was followed by Colin Moody 23rd and 1st Vet 60 in 23min 07sec, Andy Kinney 38th in 26min 22sec and Terry Pike 42nd in 27min dead.

At the Chelmsford Parkrun 5K Janice Page finished in 86th place out of 280 finishers and 1st Lady Vet 50 in 23min 33sec.
