PUPILS, parents and staff at Passmores Academy in Tracyes Road were in celebratory after an impressive set of GCSE results.

Principal, Vic Goddard said:

“Everyone at Passmores is delighted our second best results ever with 60% of students gaining 5+A*-C with English and maths and 68% getting 5A*-C, well above the target set by the government.

“We ensure that students get offered a wide range of subjects to meet their ambitions but keep a focus on the crucial subjects of English and maths so it is great that our young people can really follow their dreams rather than what we think is important to them.

“The biggest thing that highlights this is that over 45% of our students left with at least one A*/A in their GCSEs”.

Sreerag Radakrishnan, who achieved every GCSE at A/A* – 12 in total – said

“Passmores has really set me up to achieve my dream of going to Cambridge. Although we were pushed hard to achieve we were always given the chance to play sport, sing, design new things and know what it is to be part of the community and a family”

Mr Goddard added: “I am delighted that our results are up 8% on last year but, if I’m honest, comparing one group of young people to previous years doesn’t really mean anything. The most important thing for us is to ensure that every young person gets what they need to move on with their lives. Exam results are for the students, not for the school. The thing I am most proud of is that so many of our students beat their target grades at the same time as becoming well rounded human beings with the understanding what it takes to be good members of our community. ”

A selection of some other results:

Gemma Smith – 13 A/A*
Molly Smith – 9 A/A*
Kieran Panchal – 9 A/A*
Eloise Lott – 11 A/A*
Bradley Draper – 9 A/A*
