Ryman Div One North

Harlow Town 1 v 0 Soham Town Rangers

IF Harlow Town do get promoted this season, then it may be down to tough wins such as this 1-0 win against Soham Town Rangers at the Harlow Arena.

Harlow Town v SohamIt was Soham who should have scored first when Luke Stanley beat the offside trap but new keeper Dean Driscoll did very well to get down low and smother the ball.

Harlow put Soham under a great deal of pressure without really finding the target however, the Hawk’s touch and feel was very impressive.

Harlow opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Soham defender Victor Torres was judged to have handled in the box. It was a little harsh however, Alex Read made no mistake in putting the penalty away.

Harlow had total control of the half. Soham had the odd chance including one that skied over the bar from close range but they never really got going.

The second half started slowly. Harlow had the majority of the possession. David Cowley was enjoying his role in the centre of midfield as it gave him more room to express himself. Hawks fans loved a moment in the 60th minute when his dribbling skills saw him pass two Soham players in the box. He crossed but James Smith just couldn’t get on the end of it.

Harlow keeper Dean Driscoll made a couple of unforced errors that he may have to watch.

The Cowley show continued in the 70th minute as he hit the bar after another run across the box.

Whereas other teams he has played for have stifled Cowley’s creativity, Danny Chapman’s team celebrates it.

The Hawks saw out the rest of the game quite comfortably to retain their position at the top of the league.

Next game is Tuesday night at home to Thurrock.
