Filth! Playground closed after human waste found

A PLAYGROUND in Abercrombie Way has been closed off after human waste was found there.

The information came from Harlow Council as part of their report into the status of a number of illegal encampments across Harlow.

Here is the latest update:

Tennis courts at GPCA on Abercrombie Way (Land owned by Harlow Council):

There are 18 caravans in this encampment which was previously situated at Coldharbour Road. Community Safety Officers are serving a direction to leave this morning; the travellers have been asked to leave on or before 4pm today. In addition the travellers have been written to advising that should the Council have to clear up their rubbish after they have vacated this encampment, the Council will recharge them for clearance. Should there be non-payment, the Council will issue county court proceedings to recover the debt. The Council has also asked the Police to look at issuing a Section 61.

Thames Water will be onsite within 4-10 hours to secure the area on the tennis courts where there is a collapsed drain.

Showground Town Park (land owned by Harlow Council):

There are currently nine caravans on this land. Harlow Council has obtained a county court hearing date of Wednesday 17 December 2014.

Astra House car park – Edinburgh Way (privately owned land):

There are five caravans in this encampment. Harlow Council is awaiting an update from the landowner on any progress in dealing with this encampment.

South Road Cycle Track (land owned by Essex County Council):

There are four caravans in this encampment. Essex County Council has served a direction to leave by midday today (Wednesday 10 December 2014).
