Breaking News: Only life-threatening cases can be seen at A and E at Princess Alexandra Hospital

Politics / Mon 29th Dec 2014 at 04:33pm

TO cope with unprecedented demand on Monday 29 December, A&E staff at Princess Alexandra Hospital are only treating patients with life-threatening or clinically urgent conditions.

This is to free up staff enabling them to treat those who are seriously ill and in need of urgent care as quickly as possible.

All other patients are being asked to return tomorrow or seek treatment elsewhere, such as from their GP, pharmacist or by calling NHS 111.

Chief Executive Phil Morley said: “If your condition is not life-threatening or medically serious, we would ask you to please leave the Emergency Department free for those most in need.

“If you can go home and return tomorrow, or call NHS 111, or see your GP or pharmacist please do so. We are grateful for everyone’s co-operation during this very challenging time”.
