Athletics: Impressive performance by Harlow AC in X-country champs

On Saturday the 3rd Jan, it was the Essex county champs held in East London and on Sunday the 4th Jan it was the Hertfordshire champs at St Albans and the Cambridge shire county champs in Cambridge.
Athletes can select to compete in county championships by either birth or residence.
Conditions were foul this weekend with driving rain and quagmire courses underfoot.
Results were as follows (Sat 3rd Jan – Essex champs)
U13 girls 3k – 22nd Savanna Sirkett (15.41).
U13 boys 3k – 11th Ben Sloan (12.56), 16th Callum Parish (13.28), 17th Sam Sloan (13.30) and Joseph Morgan (14.12).
U15 boys 4k – 9th Lewis Harknett (16.50), Christian Barker (18.04) and OwenHarknett (18.25).
U17 women 5k – 17th Amy Edwards (31.14) and Francesca Jarrett (41.12)
U17 men 5k – 22nd Donald Campbell (23.07) and Jamie Rushworth (24.41)
Senior men 12k – 136th Brett Savidge (54.11).
Ben and Lewis have both gone on the Essex squad reserve list for the National Inter Counties in Birmingham on 7th March.
Herts Champs (4th Jan);
U13 boys 3k – 17th James Murphy (12.06)
U15 girls 4k – 6th Lottie Rowedder (19.18) and 10th Katie Champion (20.26)
U17 Women 6k – 5th Rebecca Vears (28.28)
Lottie and Rebecca have gained automatic Herts squad selection for the National Inter Counties in Birmingham on 7th March and Katie is on the reserve list.
Cambs Champs (4th Jan);
U13 boys 3k – 5th place Kai Boggon and Kai has gained automatic Cambsselection for the National Inter Counties.
So, it’s been a great weekend for HAC’s endurance contingent with three automatic county selections and three reserve places.
