Harlow UKIP lay down the gauntlet over illegal traveller encampments in Harlow

Politics / Mon 5th Jan 2015 at 10:05am

Open letter to the residents of Harlow and council leader, Jon Clempner

Fellow residents, it has been my absolute displeasure to view a youtube production of our current Labour group leader Jon Clempner stating how everything has been done with regards to the illegal encampment. The biggest offence in the production was the desire to see Essex County Council improve and expand our current traveller’s site.

It has now been 14 months and over £50,000 and the issue is still ongoing. We have a number of Labour councillors practically welcoming these people and others saying that we are doing what we can do to get them moved on.

Our MP has publically slated the Police and crime commissioner over the issue and has called for a petition to get something done about the problem. The town has divided leaders, mixed messages and a complete failure to this beautiful town of ours.

I want to send a message to all those people who break the law: it will not be tolerated by UKIP. We will not be bullied, intimidated or give in. To those who want the travellers here, then don’t vote for UKIP. These people are not paying into the town, and they are costing us thousands of pounds that will ultimately lead Harlow to lose services.

To Jon Clempner and the Labour group, if you will not fight for the people of Harlow, then in the immortal words ‘You have sat too long for any good you have been doing, Depart, I say and let us have done with you’. This town of mine is worth fighting for, don’t give the residents excuse give them action.

If this message in anyway gives any question as to the position of UKIP then hear this. No to the expansion of either permanent traveller’s site, that is giving in to law breakers. No to illegal encampments, the law is the law and UKIP will never stop trying to enforce it.

I am SAM STOPPLECAMP, this is my town and I will stand up for it.

Finally - someone who is willing to help. The Fern Hill Lane traveller site is a no go area and they are proposing to extend it!!! Good luck, the police don't even drive up here. Yet again its the residents who are being shafted on by the council

I totally agree it is like a war zone down there... making it bigger will make the problem far worse. I'm pleased to see we finally have a Councillor who is willing to stand up for residents! Harlow has two sites and many areas of Essex have none,.,.. it is time for other areas to take their share and realise that Harlow is not a dumping ground!
