Local NHS to hold feedback event on muscle and joint pain

Communities / Tue 6th Jan 2015 at 03:43pm

NHS feedback event to hear people’s experiences of local muscle, skeleton and joint (musculoskeletal) services.

West Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which plans and buys health and care services on behalf of people in Harlow, Epping Forest and Uttlesford, is asking local people to share their experiences of musculoskeletal services at an event in Harlow this month.

People from Harlow, Epping Forest and Uttlesford who have provided or received care for muscle, joint and bone conditions are invited to attend the feedback event on 22 January 2015 at Harlow Leisurezone from 1.30pm to 4pm with lunch from 1pm.

At the event, people will be able to give their feedback on these services, put forward their ideas on how they can be improved and meet the people working to improve services as well as those delivering them.

Musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, rheumatism, back pain, joint pain and muscle pain, are the most common cause of disability in the UK.* Local services within this speciality are commissioned by West Essex CCG which is currently exploring how care for people with these conditions can be improved.

Anyone aged 16 and over living in west Essex who has received care in orthopaedics, rheumatology, pain management, physiotherapy or podiatry are invited to share their experiences to shape the service for the future.

Dr Christine Moss, Epping Forest GP and clinical director at West Essex CCG said: “Local people’s opinions form the most important feedback we will receive in this review so we urge people who have experiences, good or bad, to share these with us.

“This face to face feedback event is an opportunity for local people to have a direct impact on the future of these services and we urge everyone who is able to, to join us.

“If you can’t make the event but would like to contribute to the review, please take the time to complete a short online survey accessible from our website.”

If you are unable to attend the event, can still add your opinion by completing a short questionnaire which can be found at: www.westessexccg.nhs.uk/Have-your-say/patient-questionnaires.htm

To find out more and book a place, please email Elisa Berni-Gorton ([email protected]) or call 01992 566138.

The review has been prompted by the West Essex CCG’s ambition to commission more joined-up and patient focused care and in doing so, ensure people in west Essex get the best care possible with the resources available.

The CCG is also gathering feedback from GPs, consultants and therapists which will be reviewed alongside extensive data analysis.

The opportunity to give feedback remains open until 30 January 2015.
