Ready for Big Switch?

WITH less than one month to go before registration closes for the Essex Energy Switch, Essex County Council is reminding residents to register for the initiative at www.essex.gov.uk/energyswitch

The countywide collective energy switching initiative could save residents hundreds of pounds on their gas and electricity bills as it has in the past. It simply requires residents to spend five to ten minutes registering their details online.

The initiative is free, safe and secure and those who register are under no obligation to change their existing energy supplier if they do not wish to.

Councillor Kevin Bentley, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth & Infrastructure, said:

“Almost two thousand people from all over Essex have already registered for the Essex Energy Switch but we are ambitious and want thousands more to be able to make savings on their energy bills.

Investing just a few minutes of your time could save you hundreds of pounds off your bills. If you haven’t already, get online to find out more and register at www.essex.gov.uk/energyswitch”

Those who register are entered into a collective auction. This auction works by getting energy companies to bid against each other to offer the lowest rate for gas and electricity contracts.

The more people who register, the better the price offered is likely to be, although usage and the amount residents already pay will also play a part in the calculation.

Earlier this year when the first Essex Energy Switch took place, more than 4,500 residents registered and those who switched energy provider made an average saving of over £200.

To find out more and to register please visit www.essex.gov.uk/energyswitch before the deadline of Monday 2nd February 2015.
