Lifestyle / Fri 13th Feb 2015 at 12:17pm

EAST Herts Council is working in partnership with Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall (SMH) to provide a subsidised eight week table tennis course on Thursday afternoons starting February 26.

The course, which will include the services of a qualified coach is for participants aged 50 plus to come along and have a go for the first time or improve at the sport.

Linda Haysey, executive member for health, housing and community support said, “This is an excellent example of how the council can work together with local communities to offer sports and social opportunities. Participants will be able to improve their table tennis skills and overall fitness in a friendly atmosphere. I hope that East Herts residents will go along and show their support for this worthwhile scheme.”

Peter Lee, Chair of SMH said, “Table tennis is a sociable activity which improves your fitness at the same time, whatever your level of ability. This course is part of a wider programme of activities taking place at the hall, including petanque and multi-activity sessions, so I hope lots of people will come along to find out more and get involved.”

The course will take place at Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall, The Forebury, off Knight Street, Sawbridgeworth, Herts, CM21 9BD (if using a SatNat use CM21 9AT) on Thursday afternoons starting February 26, 1.30-3.30pm. The first session will be free and then the cost will be £2 per session.

Contact Peter Lee Tel. 07519 642750 or email: [email protected] for further information or just drop in and have a go on Thursday February 26 between 1.30 and 3.30pm.ENDS
