THE TRIAL has begun of a former parish priest at Holy Cross church accused of indecently assaulting children.

Father Tony McSweeney was parish priest at Holy Cross in the late nineties.

He is on trial at Southwark Crown Court charged with four counts of indecent assault and of making indecent images of a child.

McSweeney pleads not guilty.

The trial is expected to last two weeks.
