Alan WOVER the weekend, Harlow Running Club members spanned the globe and distances in which they ran.

On Saturday, Darren Coates travelled to Aylsham in Norfolk to take on the challenge of the Poppyline Winter Ultra Race over a distance of 50 miles and completed it successfully in 2.09.00. a very satisfying performance.

Even further afield, in Orlando, Florida, much-travelled Andy Kinney ran the Disney Princess 10k in 1.04.59, finishing in 1515th place of 10989 finishers.

Over shorter distances and nearer to home, runners competed in a variety of 5k parkruns. The most impressive performance came at Harlow, where Alan Wellbelove (37th of 122) improved his best time for the distance by 17 seconds in 27.39. Other finishers at Harlow were Jim Bates 24.53 (20th), Jane Evans 28.15 (39th), Louise Cootes 28.16 (40th) and Pushpa Mistry 30.59 (58th). At the Gunpowder event, the first runner home was Jamie Jephcott in 18.26, closely followed in 2nd by his son Daniel (19.32) and then Debbie Barry 25.13 (30th of 83 finishers). At Chelmsford, Janice Page recorded 25.02 (169th of 408 finishers) and Dave Page 26.04 (198th).

On Sunday, Andy Kinney was running again, to complete the Disney Princess Half Marathon in 2.28.01, finishing in 4029th place out of 20182 finishers. Andy completed the two races on Saturday and Sunday wearing a bright pink tutu.

Making her debut for the Club at the Half Marathon distance, Debbie Cooper, ran at Brighton to finish in a very promising 2.09.17 in 5513th place of 7675.
