Suzy Stride: super injunction is “not the sole route” to solution on illegal traveller encampments

SUZY Stride, Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for Harlow, has welcomed the news that Harlow County Council have submitted a bid for a super injunction into illegal encampments but said more must be done to strengthen laws that allow local councils to act.

Suzy said: “I welcome this move by Harlow Council and County Hall, residents demand action and I’m pleased that Harlow council are taking a lead on this all be-it through a protracted legal process.

“I think it is important to remember however that this move is not the sole route to a solution on traveller encampments in Harlow.

“My view is that the law needs strengthening on this issue to give more powers to local councils to act and I will continue to call for the current government to do that.

“With Harlow Council doing everything within its power to address this issue, it’s time that the government took its own role in this matter seriously.”
