For sports fans, displays from Lee Valley Regional Park and Colchester United Football Club were a must see, and with fifteen racecourses, including Epsom, Aintree and Ascot exhibiting race-goers were not forgotten.

Visiting foodies were well-served in the fabulous Taste Area, with companies tempting visitors with culinary delights including local producers; Rossi ice cream, Candy Carnival Fudge, Brentwood Brewing Company, and the ever popular Cheese and Pie Man.

Destinations to enjoy a great meal in Essex were also on hand at the show with restaurants, inns, hotels and B & Bs all exhibiting, including the Whites Hotel Group of Ireland.

George Kieffer, Chairman of Visit Essex, said: “I’m sure many parents welcome the approach of Half-Term, Easter, summer and Christmas holidays with a mixture of excitement and mild dread. I know from personal experience just how bad it makes you feel when your son or daughter says they’re bored. That’s why I think this show is terrific for families looking for ideas and inspiration. From history buffs to adrenaline junkies, culture vultures to gastronauts, Essex and the rest of the region has so much to offer. Not only that, the county is a gateway to the rest of Europe and the Tourism and Leisure Show reflects this perfectly.”

Furthermore, County Councillor Kevin Bentley, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth; Infrastructure; Waste and Recycling said: “Essex is an inspired county and is full of fun things to do. The Tourism and Leisure Show is a wonderful way of bringing all activities and ideas for a great day out under one roof.”

We want to see tourism thrive in 2015 and beyond and are working to protect, if not increase, the £2.9 billion that it brings in to the Essex economy.
