Ladies 2’s vs Southend 3’s; Away at Thomas More School
Saturday 28th February 2015

Harlow Ladies 2’s were back to their winning ways this week when them smashed host Team Southend 3’s in a 10-0 stunner Away at Southend.

The weather and poor quality pitch meant the girls were slow to start the scoring; but 15 minutes into the first half TNaidoo fired home the girl’s first goal following a tustle in the Away Team’s D; but the joy was short lived as soon after Harlow were reduced to nine (wo)men as L Dearman and N Donaghey left the pitch due to illness and injury respectively.

Pushing on; and pulling together to fill the hole in not only the defensive line but now the scoring front too; the girls launched a second attack on the Southend D; S Donaghey collected the ball at the midway line following a clearance from S Care who passed right to LHorrax; receiving back to far left of the goal;

T Naidoo struck again after a no-call from the Umpire and her quick reactions planted Harlow’s second goal to the right of the Keepers foot. A third followed shortly after a tackle from OFigg in Defence saw the ball passed forward; LHorrax collected the shot at the top of the D and her trademark strike saw the ball home as a powerless Southend looked on. Harlow made it 4-0 just before half time when NJohnson- Marshall made a crucial tackle on the left and ran the ball into the D; the pass found TNaidoo and then LHorrax before TTaylor collected the ball at the top pf the D and shot home the half closer.

The change in direction (of the wind too) gave Harlow an early advantage and within minutes the girls won an early short corner; SDonaghey collected the pass and struck the ball past the Keeper and onto the backboard. SAlderson collected her debut goal this season (in only her second game back after giving birth) after a run from SCare saw the ball passed to OFigg; then found its way to LHorrax and into the D; a deflection from Southend found SAlderson’s stick, the Midfielder outsmarted the Keeper with a quick flick to the right of the goal.

A quick succession of scoring followed for the Harlow Team; a run of short corners; resulted in a third goal, (Hat-Trick) for T Naidoo following a deflected save from the Southend side; SDonaghey continued the scoring when a superb block from N Johnson-Marshall on the left saw the ball back into the D; the Midfielder collected the pass and dribbled the ball home to make the score 8-0. The preceding penalty corner also saw her a Hat-Trick when a mis- placed strike found its way through the keeper’s legs and gently rolled over the line. The final goal came from SAlderson who collected the ball and shot it to the right of the Keeper when S Care’s strike deflected off of the Keepers pads;

Keeper S Figg scored a clean sheet. Player of the Match went to Tanishka Naidoo

The girls are back at home next week in their final showdown of the season as they play Brentwood 5’s. They currently sit at the top of the table two points clear of Chelmsford; who have a game in hand over the Harlow side.
