Athletics: Harlow impress on gruelling Inter-Counties X-Country champs

Harlow KaiSOME of the best distance runners in the country faced each other in the races after being selected to represent their respective counties at the Inter Counties Cross Country Champs.

Unseasonably warm weather and a new gruellingly hilly course greeted the athletes in Birmingham and the standard of competition was fierce.

Four Harlow AC athletes had been selected for the championships representing 3 counties.

In the U13 boys, Kai Boggon (Cambs) completed the 3K course in 13.49 finishing in 219th place from well over 300 finishers.

In the U15 girls, Lottie Rowedder (Herts) completed the 4.5K course in 21.22 finishing in 169th place from over 300 finishers.

In the U15 boys, Lewis Harknett (Essex) completed the 4.5K course in 19.26 finishing in 173rd place from over 300 finishers.

In the U17 women, Rebecca Vears (Herts) completed the 5K course in 24.51 finishing in 167th place from over 273 finishers.

It was a great day for HAC with 4 athletes being selected for these championships with Lewis, Lottie and Rebecca now heading to the English Schools Cross Country Champs 14th March 2015.
