Politics / Tue 24th Mar 2015 at 11:01am

ESSEX County Council has made a concession over street lights in Harlow.

Cllr Rodney Bass announced at a cabinet meeting in Chelmsford this morning (Tuesday) that lights throughout Essex, would remain on until 1 am instead of midnight.

The councillor stressed that the decision making process re street lights would be Highways Dept alone.

Reacting to the statement, Essex and Harlow councillor, Mike Danvers said: “It is a concession, a small concession, but one nonetheless.

“Over 50% of the people of Harlow want these lights back on and we will not rest until they are.

“It is no only about safety but also the perception of safety.”

YH understands that the lights will go on from this Sunday (BST).
