Running: Jephcott blinders in Oakley 20 miler

HARLOW Running Member Jamie Jephcott completed the Oakley 20 Mile race, near Bedford, in 61st place out of 842 finishers in a superb 2hrs 19min 08sec. But he was upstaged by son Daniel in 244th place in a fantastic personal best time for the distance(PB) of 2hrs 43min 10sec which is a new HRC U20 record. Also running were Brendon Maclean 270th in 2hrs 45min 09sec, Sandi Rust 326th in 2hrs 51min 44sec (PB), John Tennant 333rd in 2hrs 51min 56sec, Andy Ramage 512th in 3hrs 05min 18sec, Janice Page 528th in 3hrs 57min 59sec, David Page 691st in 3hrs 26min 10sec and Holly Nairn 792nd in 3hrs 45min 47sec.

Meanwhile at the Colchester Half Marathon Vicky Steadman finished in 356th place out of 1923 finishers in a superb 1hr 43min 22sec. She was followed home by Terry Pike 1285th in 2hrs 07min 20sec, Donna Carr 1350th in 2hrs 12min 13sec in her debut at the distance and Vicky Calver 1817th in 2hrs 37min 58sec.

At the Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon Susan Maloney finished in 1492nd place out of 2452 finishers in 2hrs 13min 02sec and Janet Webster was 1783rd in 2hrs 20min 49sec.

At the Orion 15, a muddy and very hilly cross country race through Epping Forest starting at Chingford, Alan Cootes finished in 192nd place out of 278 finishers in 2hrs 20min 54sec. He was followed by Sean Flynn 193rd in the same time and louise Cootes 277th in 3hrs 12min 21sec (debut).

At the Daffodil Dawdle Cross Country Race, an off road marathon run over rolling countryside through woodland and pasture on the Suffolk/Cambs border, Darren Coates finished in 9th place in 4hrs 18min.

At the Braintree 5 Mile race Rob Lowe finished in an excellent 4th place out of 386 finishers in 29min 38sec. He was followed home by Pasqualle Pellecchia 87th in 38min 12sec, Robin Lozeau 95th in 38min 39sec, Jim Bates 103rd and 2nd Vet 70 in his debut at the distance in an excellent 39min 12sec which is a new HRC Vet 70 record by 9 mins, and Debbie Barry 145th in 41min 55sec.

At the Basingstoke Parkrun 5K Richard Solomons finished in 40th place out of 423 finishers and 1st Vet 60 in a superb 21min 07sec.

At the Cannon Hill Parkrun 5K in Birmingham John Bull finished in 95th place out of 482 finishers in 22min 37sec and Alison Bull was 303rd in 29min 01sec.

At the Hatfield Forest Partkrun 5K Justin Patten finished in 32nd place out of 120 finishers in 24min 40sec. He was followed by Janice Page 44th and 2nd Vet 50 Lady in 25min 33sec, David Page 46th in 25min 41sec and Terry Pike 60th in 26min 49sec.

At the Harlow Parkrun 5K Pushpa Mistry finished in 42nd place out of 69 finishers in 30min 56sec and Alan Wellbelove was 69th in 44min 55sec.

In a delayed result from the previous week Andy Kinney completed the Bataan Memorial Death March, a multi-terrain march at White Sands Missile Range in the New Mexico desert, finishing in 181st place out of 882 finishers in an exhausting 5hrs 57min 06sec.
