Attempted robbery outside Paringdon Sports Club

A MAN was punched in the face after being asked for a cigarette.

The 26-year-old was waiting outside the Paringdon Sports Club in Paringdon Road, Harlow, at 5am on Saturday, April 4 when he was approached by two men.

They asked him for a cigarette, but when he said he did not smoke, one of them punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.

Both men kicked him while he was on the ground and shouted for him to hand over his wallet.

But they ran off empty handed when he shouted for help.

The victim was taken to hospital with facial injuries.

His assailants were white, aged 20 to 28-years-old and of medium build.
