Circle Housing unveiled plans, last Thursday for a combination of one, two and three-bedroom flats to form the new housing development in Fourth Avenue. The new development will see Harlow’s iconic music venue The Square demolished.

The venue will be knocked down to make way for the new building, which will retain the currently unoccupied YMCA flats, incorporating them into the new development.

An invite only exhibition at Harlow’s Gibberd Gallery saw the plans unveiled for the first time to local residents and representatives from the Harlow Civic Society and SquareOne Entertainment.

The exhibit was held the day after SquareOne Entertainment announced they would cease to operate from the venue by late 2015. They were keen to stress this was not the end for The Square, saying on their Facebook page that:

“We hope to be able to announce plans of a new venue for The Square in Harlow soon.
SquareOne see this as a hugely positive step, as the current building has had little opportunity for investment with the constant shadow of redevelopment over it.”
