Family made homeless after fire in Moorfield flat

THREE people have been left homeless following a fire in Moorfield on Sunday evening.

Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to tackle the fire, which is believed to have started in a bedroom.Crews from Harlow and Old Harlow stations arrived at the scene shortly after 8pm and reported that both floors of the house, measuring 10m x 15m, were heavily smoke logged.

Firefighters used a high pressure fan to clear the building of smoke.

At 8.49pm, the incident commander reported that the fire was out. Crews were turning over and damping down and ventilating the house.

The Red Cross fire support vehicle is en route to the scene to help the family with welfare arrangements.
