Harlow MP launches campaign for free wi-f for Harlow Town Centre

Politics / Thu 4th Jun 2015 at 10:20am

ON Monday Harlow MP Robert Halfon officially launched a campaign to bring free wi-fi to the town centre.

The news will surely be welcomed by all Harlow residents who, if introduced, will be able to access the internet free of charge.

Announcing his campaign the MP said that “free wi-fi is now available in many of the country’s great towns and cities, including Bishop’s Stortford, and so I am calling for it to be rolled out across Harlow, initially in the town centre, for the benefit of all Harlow residents”.

Halfon added that, “Harlow is the birthplace of fibre-optic technology. We should all champion Harlow and I will work hard to ensure that all Harlow residents, particularly lower earners, can get the power of the internet at no cost”.

I know Robert knew before he launched his petition, but I have already instructed officers to look at Wi-Fi provision as part of wider Council initiatives to improve the town centre. Happy to work with Robert and others to move this forward, as I already am.
