HARLOW and District Health Care Forum invites local people to discuss myths and stigma surrounding mental health

The local health and care services forum in Harlow is inviting people to join their conference on Wednesday 1 July 10.00-15.00 at the Leisurezone in Harlow, to highlight the importance of mental health and emotional wellbeing.

The Harlow and District Health Care Forum has organised the conference so that some of the common misconceptions of mental health can be addressed. Other key organisations will also attend the conference to deliver advice on how to navigate local mental health services.

Joy Das, Harlow and District Health Care Forum Chair, said: “We recognise the impact that mental health and wellbeing can have on a person’s physical health and this conference will highlight some of those issues.

“Navigating local services can be a daunting prospect, particularly for younger people, and we are committed to working with local organisations to help develop the way they communicate their services and – most importantly – the way in which those services are accessed. We want people to receive smooth, seamless care at the right time and in the right environment for their needs.”

Attending the conference during the day will be speakers from local organisations, including Essex County Council (ECC), North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (NEP) and Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT).

The Forum is also holding a session for young people 17.00-19.00, to take place at the same venue.

This will be an opportunity for younger people to take part in an informal discussion on the mental health services available in Harlow and what they can expect from them, as well as hear from people who have experienced the services first-hand.

Lunch will be provided in the day and refreshments will be available during the evening session. Parking tokens (£1.20) will be available from reception.

Spaces are limited and so please call 07555068403 to book a place.
