Twelve-year-old robbed on way home from school in Tendring Road

A 12-year-old boy was the victim of an attempted robbery on his way home from school.

He was walking along Tendring Road, Harlow, at 3.45pm on Wednesday June 17 when a man who was sitting behind a bus stop approached him from behind and unzipped his rucksack.

He demanded the victim hand over his phone and keys, but the boy refused to hand them over and ran off into Kingsland, followed by the suspect.

The boy made his way to a place of safety.

The suspect is described as aged in his mid-20s, 5ft 11ins tall and skinny. He had a foreign accent, possibly eastern European, a long nose, bushy eyebrows, brown eyes and a moustache.

He wore black leather gloves, a navy blue hooded top with a white letter T on the back, ripped black trousers and black shoes and carried a white plastic carrier bag.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to call Harlow CID on 101.
