IT businesses in Harlow are being invited to an event where they can explore opportunities to work with Essex County Council for the benefit of the local economy.

The event aims to give small local IT businesses an opportunity to find out what Essex County Council’s IT strategy and investment programme looks like, and a chance to find out how they can become part of Essex County Council’s IT supply chain through the council’s larger contracts.

Those attending will get an understanding of ECC’s high-level information technology roadmaps, how to engage with the council’s IT, and how to be aware of opportunities to do business with ECC IT.

It will also give both IT SMEs and existing IT suppliers of Essex County Council a chance to network, and a chance to see what else Essex County Council can offer in terms of business support in the form of apprenticeships and inwards investment.

Cllr Derrick Louis, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transformation and Corporate & Traded Services, said: “Essex County Council is committed to breaking down barriers to make it easier for all companies, including those in the IT sector, to work with us for the benefit of the local economy. I hope many people from of our business community will take advantage of this opportunity to come and talk to us to see how we can do business together.”

There will also be the opportunity to network with key suppliers to the council, such as Daisy Updata Communications Ltd, Methods and MITIE.

The market engagement event takes place at the Essex Record Office in Wharf Road, Chelmsford, on Tuesday 14 July from 6-8pm.
