Ninety minutes of football couldn’t separate the sides, and although either side had opportunities to take the win the draw was a fair result.

Harlow started brightly and fashioned several goal-scoring opportunities in the first half. Joe Benjamin, Junior Dadson, Alex Read and David Cowley all went close, but couldn’t break the deadlock.

At the other end, new signing Niklas Freund was on hand with several key saves to keep the score level. Brentwood did go ahead just before half-time however, when a corner found Ryan O’Rawe open at the back post to head home.

Harlow equalised just after the break, when Junior Dadson used his pace to reach the ball first in the opposition area. A reckless challenge brought the winger down and the referee didn’t hesitate in pointing to the spot. Up stepped Alex Read to slot home the penalty.

The second half saw much of the same as the first period with chances at either end. Omer Riza went closest for the Hawks, his close range volley going over the bar, while Freund was once again required to deny the Brentwood attack.

With the pre-season schedule now complete, Danny Chapman’s men will now look forward to the start of the league campaign on Saturday 8th August. The first game sees local rivals Cheshunt visit the Harlow Arena for a 3pm kick off, followed by the long trip to Wroxham three days later on Tuesday 11th.
