STEWARDS Academy was very pleased with the GCSE results this year and particularly with the individual pupils and departments whose results exceeded expectations.
Headteacher Rhonda Murthar said “It is so good to see the hard work of staff and pupils rewarded with the results they deserve”.
The overall figure for pupils who achieved 5 A*-C including English and maths dropped slightly this year due to changes to the exam criteria.
Deputy Head Boy Matt Fleming achieved 11 A* grades and 2 A grades and Isaac Lucia achieved 10 A* grades and 5 A grades. He also achieved an A* in his A level maths which he sat two years early. Both boys were delighted with their results and are now very excited about the scholarship places they have been awarded at prestigious sixth forms.
Isaac said “I am so happy with my results and I am so grateful to all my teachers for their unstinting support and inspiration”.
A number of departments were delighted to have exceeded the national average for their subjects including former Stewards pupil Jamie King, who is now Subject Leader for History, with a result of 75%.
