ST Mark’s West Essex Catholic School were once again celebrating results that yet again demonstrate strong English Baccalaureate, progress and individual success. 15% of pupils achieved at least 5 A*/A; 59% of pupils achieved at least 1 A*/A; 64% of pupils of those entered achieved the English Baccalaureate and 100% of pupils achieved at least one GCSE grade; 5+ A*-C (including Maths and English) was 52+%; and Progress 8 (the new government measure) and value added have increased further.
The Headteacher, Elaine Heaphy, commenting on the results, stated: “I am delighted that the hard work of our Year 11 pupils and their teachers has been rewarded. I am proud of every pupil in accepting and meeting the challenges that we at St Mark’s continually strive to provide for each of them. We promote an academic Key Stage 4 curriculum which enables them to go onto ‘A’ level and post 16 studies. I look forward to welcoming this year group of pupils back, along with many new pupils, into our Sixth Form for the new academic year.”
There were many examples of outstanding individual performances with most of our pupils not only achieving their target grades but a number exceeding them. The following pupils all achieved at least 5 A*/A grades (numbers indicate number of A* – C passes and the numbers in brackets indicate the number of A*/A).
