Athletics: Impressive weekend for Harlow’s Alex Smith

Alex SmithHARLOW Running Club member Alex Smith cruised to a new personal best time for the distance(PB) at the Harlow Parkrun 5K, finishing in 2nd place out of 105 finishers in an excellent 20min 25sec. He was followed home by Terry Ridge (11th in 23:33), Paul Dixon (12th in 23:38), Daniel Chapman (19th in 25:16), Debbie Barry (26th and 1st Female Vet 50 in 26:08), Jane Evans (27th and 2nd Female Vet 50 in 26:21), Alan Wellbelove (51st in 29:20), Pushpa Mistry (67th in 31:11), Debbie Cooper (68th in 31:20) and Austin Nyamande (78th in 33:49).

Meanwhile at the Mel Batty 10K at Thurrock Adrian Fell finished in 32nd place out of 144 finishers in 39min 35sec. He was followed by Alex Smith (35th in 39:56), his second PB of the weekend, and Sharon Wright (64th in 44:47).

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Daniel Jephcott finished in 3rd place out of 115 finishers in a fantastic 19min 15sec and Martyn Coulter was 22nd in a PB time of 23min 34sec

At the Thetford Parkrun 5K Jason Haigh finished in 9th place out of 156 finishers in a superb 20min 19sec and Celia Haigh was 95th in 32min 03sec.

At the Hatfield Forest Parkrun Justin Patten finished in 18th place out of 128 finishers in 22min 11sec.

At the Cambridge Parkrun 5K Richard Smith finished in 182nd place out of 487 finishers in 24min 43sec.

At the Reading Parkrun Andy Kinney finished in 115th place out of 196 finishers in 28min 02sec.

At the Maldon Parkrun 5K Vicky Calver finished in 212th place out of 250 finishers in 36min 19sec.

At the Mersea Island 10 Mile race Debbie Barry finished in 104th place out of 179 finishers in 1hr 29min 33sec.

At the Mersea Island 5 Mile race Paula Reynolds finished in 18th place out of 105 finishers and 3rd female in 36min 18sec.

Andy Kinney had a very busy weekend, completing one and a half marathons. On Sunday he finished the Severn Bridge Half Marathon in 1870th place out of 2255 finishers in 2hrs 21min 18sec. The race starts in Wales, crosses the bridge in to England and then back again in to Wales Then on Monday he finished the off road Cakeathon Marathon in East Kent in 46th place out of 113 finishers in 5hrs 43min 51sec

A late result from the previous week where Kinney endured an even more exhausting weekend by completing two marathon in two days. He finished the Bad Cow Marathon (Day One), at Poole in Dorset, in 72nd place out of 86 finishers in 5hrs 46min 24sec. The next day he finished the Bad Cow Marathon (Day Two) in 86th place out of 92 finishers in 6hrs 02min 03sec.
