Au Revoir as French travellers sent on their way

Communities / Wed 2nd Sep 2015 at 01:32pm

A GROUP of travellers from France who tried to set up encampments in Harlow today (2 September 2015) have moved on after being made aware of the interim High Court Injunction which is in force in the town.

Harlow Council’s Community Safety Team and Neighbourhood Policing Team attended two unauthorised encampments in Harlow earlier today. A total of 18 caravans plus vehicles travelling through the town tried to set-up encampments on the Netteswell Plantation (Helipad) and the junction of Third Avenue and Abercrombie Way.

Councillor Jon Clempner, Leader of Harlow Council, said: “The travellers were unaware of the interim High Court injunction which was obtained by Harlow Council and Essex County Council earlier this year.

Having been informed of the content of the injunction the group co-operated with the Council and the Police and moved from both areas and promptly left Harlow. Once again the importance of the temporary injunction and its impact has been proven.”
