Fundraisers to Sleep in Cardboard Boxes
by Christopher Kenworthy.

HARLOW Councillor Ian Beckett is one of many fundraisers hoping to raise money for homeless people on Saturday 5 September by sleeping outdoors in cardboard boxes.

Cardboard City is being hosted at the GPCA Playbarn in Harlow by The Chocolate Run charity, which annually provides shelter for the homeless during the Christmas holidays.

The event has so far raised about a third of its target of five hundred pounds via its fundraising webpage on Give.net.

Mr. Beckett, who heard about the event three years ago, said “just because you can’t see homeless people, it doesn’t mean they aren’t out there.” He will be sleeping in a cardboard box on Saturday to raise awareness about homeless people who feel displaced in society.

About half a dozen supporters and trustees are expected to turn up to the event, which starts at 7pm. If you’d like to donate money, you can do so at: my.give.net/cardboardcity2015.
