Performers of all ages are in the final stages of rehearsals for what looks set to become one of the region’s theatre highlights of the year. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will grace the Harlow Playhouse stage between Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th October, for this specially created Autumn Musical treat for all the family.

This thrilling version of the much-loved C.S. Lewis tale received rave reviews and broke box office records when commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company. Playhouse audiences can experience the magic once more, as they are taken on a whirlwind journey from the London blitz to a sprawling country mansion, and through a wardrobe to the magical land of Narnia.

James Miller, Chair of Harlow Playhouse Charitable Trust said “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is such a well-loved book and we’re delighted to have secured the rights to stage it through this brilliant musical adaptation. Our professional production team has also given local performers, young and old, the opportunity to sink their teeth into some iconic characters. It’s difficult not to be affected by the show, it has some extraordinary moments.”

Director Claire Cassidy said “The story follows four children, the Pevensies, on an incredible adventure, meeting extraordinary characters and, the most iconic of lions, Aslan. Our four Pevensie children are among the best I’ve ever seen, and the overall cast is so strong and full of vibrancy. It’s a big show, with big concepts, magic and stirring music- a truly thrilling and memorable experience for audiences, young and old.”

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe plays at Harlow Playhouse at 7.30pm on Friday 2nd October, 3pm and 7pm on Saturday 3rd October, and 1am and 3pm on Sunday 4th October. Tickets vary £12 to £17. Age guidance 7+.
