Deadline looming for secondary places in Harlow

Politics / Mon 19th Oct 2015 at 10:56am

PARENTS are being reminded to apply for their children’s secondary school places.

Parents and carers of children due to start at secondary school (Year 7) in September 2016 should apply by the closing date on 31 October 2015. It is vital an application is received by that deadline.

Applications can be made at www.essex.gov.uk/admissions. The website also enables parents to search for the school information, read Ofsted reports and check admissions criteria and transport policy information.

Cllr Ray Gooding, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “Applying for a secondary school place can be a tough decision and I would encourage all parents to make use of the tools available on the website before submitting an application.

“It is vital applications are submitted by the closing date to maximise the opportunity of a place at a preferred school.

“I would also encourage parents to make use of all six preferences available and to carefully consider the admissions criteria for each school they wish to apply for.”

Applications submitted after the deadline on October 31 will be considered once all on-time applications have been determined.
