ESSEX Firefighters were called to deal with a fire in a house after someone arrived home to find their smoke alarm sounding and smoke coming out of the front door in Spruce Hill, Harlow.

Wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet crews had extinguished the fire by 16:46hrs on Tuesday afternoon.

Crews also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property.
