Breast Cancer campaignON Wednesday night (28th October) Robert Halfon MP attended a reception in Parliament held by Breast Cancer Now, where he met with Breast Cancer Now supporter and worker Marilyn Morris.

Their aim is to bring together the brightest minds to discover how to prevent breast cancer, how to detect it earlier and how to treat it effectively at every stage. And they’re finding ways to stop secondary breast cancer – when the disease spreads to other parts of the body – which cuts short 1,000 UK women’s lives each month. Every breakthrough they make is rooted in the realities of women affected by the disease.

Their Public Health campaigns help thousands every year become breast cancer aware and empower them to take action to reduce their risk of the disease.

Robert Halfon said:

‘I was honoured to meet with Marilyn in Parliament. She is a fantastic ambassador for Breast Cancer Now and has done so much to spread awareness about how women are affected by this disease and what they can do to prevent it.

The reception was an opportunity to discuss how progress can be made in vital areas of policy, and their goal is that by 2050 anyone developing breast cancer will live rather than the tragic 12,000 deaths a year now. I had a chat with Marilyn after the event who is a breast cancer survivor and fantastic ambassador for the organisation. She’s invited me to these receptions every year, and as a town we should be very proud of all the work that she’s doing.’
