Parndon 2Little Parndon 1APPLICANTS for the position of head boy and girl were put through their paces at one Harlow primary school.

Pupils keen to lead their peers at Little Parndon Primary School, in Park Mead, had to make their appeal for the job in front of the whole school.

Instead of the traditional interviews, those keen to take up the top job had to give their presentation to the large audience.

Head of school Sophie Laing said: “This was an opportunity to develop their public speaking and listening skills. I also want to give our pupils more involvement in assemblies as I think that’s really important and this was the ideal opportunity. For them to go through that process, including disappointment for some, is an experience in itself.

“Some had put together whole Power Point presentations which was really impressive.”
Pupils keen to apply for the positions were given a job description to meet in their written applications and presentations.

The applications were so strong, the head boy and head girl each have been given deputies.

Head girl is Benedicta Okubire with deputies Megan Picket and Phillipa Greener and head boy is Mohit Patil with deputies Matas Bultkus and William Fowler.
