THE annual Remembrance Day service, which honours the memory of members of the Armed Forces who gave their lives for their country, takes place at the Netteswell Cross war memorial in the Town Park on Sunday (8 November 2015).
Proceedings will commence with a parade, setting off from Burnt Mill School, at 10am. The parade will make its way to the memorial for the service, which begins at 10.45am. During the service, poppy wreaths will be laid at the base of the cross by local dignitaries and representatives of the Armed Forces.
If you’re planning to attend the service, you are advised to arrive by 10.30am; School Lane will be closed between 10am and noon.
The Harlow branch of the Royal British Legion will also hold a Festival of Remembrance, with music and readings, at Harlow Playhouse in the evening (more details can be found at: www.playhouseharlow.com)
On Wednesday 11 November 2015, the Council will be holding a two-minute silence outside the Civic Centre in the Water Gardens, which members of the public are welcome to attend.
