St Clare shop celebrates first birthday

When the shop in Loughton’s High Road launched last autumn, it with the eighth St Clare shop to open within the catchment area the Hospice serves, and it remains the only charity shop in Loughton to support a cause that has been caring for local families in the community it serves for 25 years.
But with demand for St Clare’s specialist care and support only set to grow in the coming years, and only limited NHS funding, the Hastingwood-based charity is more reliant than ever on the support of donors and, more importantly customers, if it is to continue being there for every person who needs them over the next 25 years.
Shop manager Jo Leal said: “It’s been a great start for our newest St Clare shop and, thanks to the support of our local community, we are so proud of all we have achieved in our first year.
“We hope that the people of Loughton and Epping Forest will help us achieve even greater things in the coming year by continuing to support us, not only by donating their unwanted goods to us to sell, but also shopping with us to help us raise the money we need to generate each and every year so we can continue being there for local families facing one of the most difficult journeys in life.
“Thank you for helping get our Loughton shop off to a flying start, and we hope we can count on your continued support. We really could not do it without you.”
