Athletics: Harlow medal in Essex 10 Mile Champs

HARLOW Running Club had a good turnout at the Stebbing 10 Mile race, near
Dunmow, which also doubled as the Essex County 10 Mile Championships. From the
30 runners there were two Championship medalists and nine personal best times
for the distance (PB). John Tennant (155th in 1.15.23) and Paulene Galoppi
(428th in 1.43.27) won the bronze medal in the Mens Vet 60 and Ladiies Vet 65
categories respectively.

First Harlow runner, in his debut for the club, was
Rich Hynes in 38th place out of 494 finishers in an excellent 1hr 03min 35sec.
He was followed home by Alex Smith (61st in 1.06.48 PB), Adrian Fell (66th in
1.07.27) and Steve Mackenzie (76th in 1.08.19). First Harlow lady was Louise
Brass (82nd in 1.09.21 PB), followed by Dionne Jones (123rd in 1.13.06), Julia
Gardiner (139th in 1.14.27) and Sharon Wright (147th in 1.14.53). There were PB
runs from Brendon Maclean (117th in 1.12.21), Alan Wellbelove (205th in
1.20.15), Catherine Ridge (222nd in 1.21.30), Richard Smith (223rd in 1.21.34),
Debbie Barry (251st in 1.22.55), Debbie Smith (291st in 1.26.09) and Michelle
Hyde (329th in 1.28.54).

Andy Kinney had a busy weekend, as well as running at Stebbing on Sunday, he
completed two races in East Sussex on Saturday. During the morning he finished
the Tonbridge Parkrun 5K in 155th place out of 277 finishers in 29min 30sec.
Then three hours later he started the Poppy Half Marathon at Bexhill, finishing
in 683rd place out of 773 finishers in 2hrs 30min 13sec.

There was also a Poppy 10K race, Paul Schroder finishing in 29th place out of
203 finishers in 49min 45sec and Wendy Spring 51st in 53min dead.

At the Harlow Parkrun 5K Ben Chitiyo was victorious, winning the event out of 98
finishers in a superb 18min 53sec. He was followed by Robin Lozeau (19th and 1st
Vet 60 in 24.12), Alan Cootes (21st and 2nd Vet 60 in 24.30), Anna Baker (22nd
and 1st Female in 24.37), Lynsey Hodge (27th and 3rd Female in 25.29), Saira
Muschamp (28th in 25.31), Louise Cootes (48th in 28.31) and Jeff Mace (65th in
30.59).

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Martyn Coulter finished in 30th
place out of 114 finishers in 22.54 and Alan Wellbelove was 38th in 24.28.

At the Hatfield Forest Parkrun 5K Justin Patten finished in 23rd place out of
141 finishers in 23.22 and Terry Pike was 61st in 26.49.

At the Gainsborough Parkrun 5K in Lincolnshire Faith Jackson-Lee finished in
20th place out of 38 finishers in 26.53.

At the Sodbury Slog in Gloucestershire, a 10 mile cross country race with
natural hazards including ditches and mudbaths, Jon Steadman finished in 156th
place out of 1045 finishers in 1hr 23min 45sec and wife Vicky was 283rd in 1hr
30min 47sec.

At the Met League Cross country race at Stevenage Hannah Cox finished in 199th
place out of 218 finishers in 36min 30sec.

A late result from the previous week, Andy Kinney completed the hilly off road
November Nightmare Marathon at Telford in Shropshire, finishing in 28th place
out of 30 finishers in an exhausting 5hrs 54min 50sec.
