TO celebrate the start of Global Entrepreneurship Week, a range of organisations will be on hand to help you ‘Make it Happen’.

Harlow Council as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2015, the nation’s largest entrepreneurship-focused campaign has organised a launch event to encourage and support the town’s entrepreneurs.

The event, taking place on Monday 16 November 2015 in the Harvey Centre, Harlow Town Centre between 11am and 2pm will be an opportunity for anyone considering starting a business or becoming self-employed to find out about the range of support available.

Harlow’s launch event forms part of a week of global activities that highlight and celebrate entrepreneurship as well as offering practical support to those who are interested in setting up their own business or developing their business networks.

Organisations from Harlow Enterprise Hub, BEST Growth Hub, Harlow Business Mentors, Anglia Ruskin University, Essex Innovation, Harlow & District Chamber of Commerce, Superfast Essex, Federation of Small Business and Harlowsave Credit Union will be on hand to discuss and provide information and advice and how these organisations can help; support available includes mentoring, training, guidance and access to finance.

Cllr Tony Durcan, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Enterprise at Harlow Council said:

“Global Entrepreneurship Week is a great campaign, highlighting the importance of enterprise and entrepreneurialism. This year’s theme is ‘Make It Happen’ and our launch event is all about helping existing or aspiring entrepreneurs to make it happen.”

“There are so many different business support providers out there, but we will be showcasing the ones on our doorstep who can help residents and businesses on their enterprise journey.”

As well as finding out about the range of services available, the event will also see the official launch of Harlowsave Credit Union’s CU Loans Local, a local loan scheme allowing businesses an alternative ‘credit option’ offer to their customers when purchasing high value goods, rather than using credit cards or payday lenders. CU Loans Local is ideal for small and independent businesses who do not currently offer other alternative payment options, but by working with Harlowsave Credit Union, businesses can offer loans for purchases, but without the hassle.

Ian Hudson, General Manager of Harlow and District Chamber of Commerce said:

“Harlow & District Chamber of Commerce exists to help members grow their business in the area. GEW is a great opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to find out more about starting a business and the Chamber, who offers free membership for the first year, aims to encourage local people to set up and benefit from being your own boss.”
