FA Trophy Second qualifying round

Molesey 4-3 Harlow Town

HARLOW Town were left wondering where it all went wrong as they let a 3-1 lead slip in an astonishing final 15 minutes of yesterdays cup clash.

Harlow started the game brightly, with a glancing header from Jared Small flying into the net from six yards after just four minutes.

The chances continued to flow as Harlow looked to have a firm grip on the game. Their early pressure was rewarded when Molesey failed to deal with a Ryan Melaugh free kick, which was turned into his own net by defender Luke Elliot on 28 minutes.

However, this was met by a swift response from the Molesey side, who managed to grab one back with a low finish into the corner from Staff Palmer just two minutes later to take them into half time with the score 2-1 to Harlow.

On 55 minutes, Harlow regained their two goal cushion when full back Layne Eadie skipped past Molesey right back Ross Chalke before delivering a testing low cross which was met by Leon Fisher who tapped it in to open his account for the Hawks.

Harlow looked comfortable with their 3-1 lead and continued to push for more with Alex Read just feet away from tapping in Junior Dadson’s byline cross. Few could have expected what was to happen next.

As the second half wore on the hosts began to exert pressure, managing to grab one back in the 78th minute through a James McShane strike to make it 3-2.

The continuous pressure finally paid off as Staff Palmer beat the offside trap to slot home a tidy finish to bring the two sides level in the 85th minute.

The game looked set for a replay as the tie drew into injury time. However, Molesey somehow managed to complete their heroic comeback when McShane reached the byline and pulled back for Reis Stanislaus to finish in the 92nd minute to make it 4-3, much to the astonishment of the travelling fans.

Harlow Town are now out of all cup competitions and host Heybridge Swifts on Tuesday 17th November in the league as they chase a much needed win.
